Fatty Amines

The cationic surfactants manufactured by Corsicana Technologies are based on derivatives from naturally occurring fats and oils, such as, vegetable and animal fats and oils. Examples of these fats and oils are coconut oil, soyabean oil, beef tallow and tall oil. When the fats and oils are converted (or split) to their acid form, they are referred to as fatty acids. These fatty acids, when reacted with nitrogen containing compounds, such as, ammonia and hydrogen, under temperature and pressure, yield compounds known as amines. Amine based compounds are cationic, i.e., positively charged compounds. These “fatty amines” are the basis of Corsicana Technologies’ product line.
